A Chance Discovery
During a sourcing trip in Taiwan, this vessel caught my eye at lovely teaware shop. I couldn't resist bringing it home to use with my heavily roasted oolongs, including Yan Cha, Dong Ding, and Aged Dancong. It grew to be a mainstay in the rotation.
I was delighted to learn that a few more pieces were still available from the collector, and it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. We managed to secure a few more — and I am so excited to share them with you.
老紫泥
This pot is made from "old mud" (老泥). The term refers to the length of time that clay has been aged prior to being molded into a teapot and subsequently fired. For many pots, this process can last up to 2 years, while for old mud pots, you can expect a minimum of 3.
