OYU Ceramics is a one-man pottery studio created by Michal Koczor - a potter based in the woods outside Warsaw, Poland. He focuses on reduction firing in a gas kiln and primarily works with traditional Japanese Shino, Celadon, Tenmoku, and Ash-Glazed Teaware.

Tenmoku (天目) is a style of Japanese pottery influenced by Chinese Jian Zhan (建盏) stoneware from the Song Dynasty. It is prized for its visual appearance, which contrasts the vessel's color with the liquor's. This piece is handmade, wheel thrown, and produced for Austin's Tea. It was fired in a gas kiln in a reduction atmosphere to cone 10.

As a handmade, unique production, each piece has variations in the glaze — from reddish to black. We've tried to provide multiple examples in the photos of the range of these beautiful works. If you care about the particulars of the one you will receive, please reach out, and we will happily share photos of available stock.
